F-15's grounded after one desintegrates in mid-flight.


Well, it sucks the big fat one, but it's what it is. After so many years of highly stressful flying, the airframes seem to be giving up. (They are wanting to point it at faulty maintenance or corrosion, but seems to me you wouldn't fly one of these things without proper maintenance, which should have included corrosion checks.)   1. Dude these planes have a lot of mileage in them. Given the stresses they put on them, like an old car they just break. I wouldn't think there's that much corrosion going on since they have lots of parts that aren't supposed to corrode. This was most likely a maintenance issue. They forgot to tighten something or other. Like that F-117 that lost the tail during an airshow. They found out a mechanic didn't properly tighten some bolts in the tail.
