Has this ship any protecting shield for the return into the atmosphere. It doesn't seem like it?!?

I think there is some sort of heat shielding but not to the extent like the space shuttle. It uses a feathered re-entry which is much less violent given that it's only a suborbital flight. The vehicle shape reminds me of that of the X-20 Dyna Soar...
