Richard Stewart Romsey, Hampshire, England “I modeled Airfix’s 1/72 scale ‘Stratos 4’ TSR.2MS as a BAC TSR.2 in a ‘what if’ Royal Air Force configuration,” Richard says. He used automotive paints and a Model Alliance decal set. “The plane is mounted on clear plastic rods through the engine exhausts and is internally lit with LEDs from an old cupboard light to simulate the engines ‘turning & burning,’” he says. “Also, the light travels via fiber-optic rods to illuminate the instrument panels.” The wingtip vortices are actually power lines from the battery in the base. “The display is stable enough to hang from the wall, so it’s out of the way of my two young children. It also provides ambient lighting in our stairwell!”
